Free Games, Giveaways, Contests, and Discounts

44 posts in this topic

Right off the bat, no, this isn't the thread (nor the site in general) for sharing your torrent or pirated games. Just a place where anyone can share sites that offer legitimate giveaways, major discounts, trading, and even free games.

Be careful sharing contests or giveaways from grey market places like G2A or Kinguin. Always research first before giving away your information.

Steam Gifts - Just log in with your Steam account and you are given a token you can use to enter giveaways that replenishes automatically overtime. Some of the more recognizable AAA games are behind several levels but for indie games there are always a wide selection without any of the level restrictions. Generally risk-free, just don't expect the odds to be in your favor (I won 4 out of the 1,416 I have entered) but hey, it's free and the only thing you lose is a bit of your time.

https://www.steamgifts.com/

Cheap Ass Gamer/Steam Code Drop -  This one's a bit tricky. It's a forum no different than ours but where members post their leftover codes. Time it right and you get the codes for free. Just bookmark it, go to the last page, and refresh the hell out of it. Personally I haven't gotten anything so far but again it's free so I really can't complain.

http://bit.ly/29uDZVX

Cheap Ass Gamer/Random Code Drop - Same deal as above except it's everything other than PC games - Nintendo, Sony, Xbox, and even iTunes codes.

http://bit.ly/29odUJH

Ubisoft 30th Anniversary Giveway - Ubisoft is giving away games which started last month with Prince of Persia. They'll be giving away the first Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell this coming Wednesday. You need to have a Uplay account.

https://club.ubi.com/#!/en-GB/ubi30

Electronic Arts/Origin - On the House - EA is semi-regularly giving away old (and not-so-old games) from their library. Right now they are giving away Nox. It's a Diablo clone from the early 2000s. Good game, I enjoyed my time with it. Even a potato can play this game now without any trouble. They are also giving away a free expansion for Battlefield Hardline so get it if you have the base game. So far I have gotten Battlefield 3, Bejeweled 3, Command and Conquer Generals, Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge, Peggle, the first Dead Space, the first Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Jade Empire Special Edition, a few Battlefield 4 DLCs, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and some late 90s games so the deal isn't really shabby at all.

Cheapshark - If you want to search discounted games sa Steam, Green Man Gaming, Gamersgate, Amazon, etc. then this is the place.

If you love comics and Overwatch, the comics are free sa comiXology and Kindle. You can get it from Amazon or get it directly from comiXology. All the issues are also available in Blizzard's Overwatch website but if you want an offline digital copy, go get it.

World of WarCraft: Legion is also free currently.

Tangentially related to gaming, but this dude is giving money (usually 5 bucks) away daily (you have to have a Paypal account). He is running VGFaces and I guess it's his way to attract people to sign up. It's a social network site much like Facebook but gaming-centric. The site's legit as far as I can tell. I have an account there and I haven't been scammed or haxor3d yet so yeah. The catch is the contest is being run on odd hours for us here in the Philippines and some of the stuff he asks for you to take a photo off might not be available locally.

Later this week, Blizzard will update BroodWar to version 1.18, making the game free. The bad news is it's currently "sold out" :(

This is to drum up some goodwill and hype after announcing StarCraft: Remastered a few days ago.

Abang lang sa page na 'to for anyone interested. It would probably be available soon:

@.X. Oo they already made the change. It's no longer Battle.Net. The launcher just says Blizzard. The change was made with the last update several days ago.

The name meant a lot for older gamers especially sa mga people that was with them since the days of Diablo and the first 'Craft games.

Final Fantasy 14's Free Trial Eliminates Its Time Limit

Up until now, the free trial provided only 14 days to check out the MMO, regardless of how much you played or how far you advanced. Now, you can potentially play indefinitely, although there are still limitations: namely, you can't advance beyond level 35. While the upcoming Stormblood expansion raises the level cap from 60 to 70, that's still a substantial amount of the game you can check out without ever purchasing it or a subscription.

If you've participated in the trial previously, you'll now be allowed to jump back in and pick up from where you left off. With the 14-day limit in place, you were unable to re-experience the trial after those 14 days without making a new account.

Kalilipat ko lang sa bagong ISP since 'yung dati ko was really crappy kaya Quick Play, vs. AI, and Arcade ginagawa ko most of the time. If my connection wigged out at the middle of the match, at least walang gaanong sisi sa Quick Play.

No I haven't and I'm not sure if I will. Quick Play kinda fills my need for multiplayer FPS without worrying about anything else like my skill rating and maintaining it.

Overlord is free:

https://store.codemasters.com/eu/product/286599/overlord

About the game:

Overlord is set in a fantasy world, where the player takes the role of a resurrected warrior known simply as The Overlord who has control over hordes of gremlin-like creatures known as "minions". The player must defeat seven corrupt ruling heroes in order to reconquer the lands and establish his lordship over its inhabitants. The game features a corruption feature, similar to that of the Fable games, but allowing the player to "be evil... or really evil", where certain actions and choices affect different aspects of the story and gameplay. While the Overlord is controlled in a third person perspective, the way minions are controlled brings elements of real-time strategy and upgrades bring those of role-playing games. The game also uses dark humor, and is a satirical parody of the traditional fantasy setting and plot.

Not free but the Endless Space Collection is currently selling for only Php 50.00 sa Steam until April 18. I've played this a few years ago and as far as 4X games go, it's not too shabby and you can't go wrong with that price.

Dungeons II is free for the next two days

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/dungeons-2

About the game:

Strategy simulation video game developed by Realmforge Studios and published by Kalypso Media. It has been released through retail and on Steam on April 24, 2015. Unlike its predecessor, Dungeons 2 is a more direct homage to Dungeon Keeper. You still play as the Ultimate Evil, but now as a disembodied spirit after his defeat by heroes of the Overworld, you are forced to rely on controlling your minions with the Hand of Terror. You hire minions from a portal up to a population limit, who have names, and can gain levels in both production and combat, and be trained into upgraded versions. Minions have specific needs that have to be met, such as pay, thirst, admiration or boredom - if they don't get what they want, they will go on strike and refuse to obey your commands. The game now allows you to slap your workers, grab minions and drop them where you wish, or drop resources such as gold, mana, barrels or boxes. The greatest change is how you can now enter the Overworld through specific cave exits - the same that heroes use to raid your dungeon. On the Overworld the game controls switches to a more direct Real Time Strategy, with direct mouse-click control of your units, multiple selections and hotkeys to abilities. As you destroy the holdings of the heroes, you not only stop their raids on your dungeon, but transform the land into evil landscape. Your ultimate goal is usually the destruction of a castle, but there are other separate dungeons holding quests too.

Alan Wake is heavily discounted right now for the next 13 hours after which it will be removed from Steam and any other digital platforms as the music license is expiring. Piracy notwithstanding, basically the game would only continue to exist if you can find a disc copy or if they renew the license which might be highly unlikely.

It's a good game I think. The combat mechanics is a bit clunky but like all Remedy games, the writing is top notch. If you're a fan of Twin Peaks or third person action/horror games, I highly recommend it. Despite being a 5-year old game, the graphics holds up well too.

Alan Wake Franchise (Php 99.00) - This includes the standalone American Nightmare and some extra stuff

Alan Wake base game only (Php 75.99)

Alan Wake's American Nightmare (Php 31.99) - This will remain in digital stores but you might be interested in the heavy discount

http://store.steampowered.com/app/202750/Alan_Wakes_American_Nightmare/
https://www.gog.com/game/alan_wakes_american_nightmare

About the game:

Alan Wake is an action-adventure video game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Studios, released for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. The story follows best-selling thriller novelist Alan Wake, as he tries to uncover the mystery behind his wife's disappearance during a vacation in the small fictional town of Bright Falls, Washington, all while experiencing events from the plot in his latest novel, which he cannot remember writing, coming to life.

In its pacing and structure, Alan Wake is similar to a thriller television series, with episodes that contain plot twists and cliffhangers. The game itself consists of six episodes, and the fiction is continued by two special episodes, titled "The Signal" and "The Writer", that were made available as downloadable content (DLC) within the same year of the game's release. Together, they make the first season of a possibly longer story. Additionally, a six-episode live-action web series called Bright Falls acts as a prequel to the game, and a number of related books also expand upon the Alan Wake story.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare is a downloadable follow-up to its predecessor, Alan Wake, but is not a sequel per se, rather serving as an in-universe spinoff.

The plot of American Nightmare is framed by the narration of an episode of the fictional TV show, "Night Springs," which follows the style of The Twilight Zone and appeared on television screens throughout the original Alan Wake.
