Pinays Have The Smallest Breasts In The World, Study Finds

5 posts in this topic

The researchers measured the assets of nearly 400,000 women aged 28 to 30 born in 108 different countries—excluding those who have had surgery, were pregnant, breastfeeding, or had been pregnant in the past year—using tape measure, visual examination, and 3D scanning. They collated the results and came up with a list of the bustiest to the most flat-chested.

The study reads: "Women born in the USA have far larger breasts than women in any other country, while women born in Africa and Asia, particularly in the East Asian countries, have the smallest breast volumes."

"A typical Caucasian woman born in the USA has a breast volume of 1,668 ml and the highest quartile of Caucasian US women has a mean breast volume as high as 2,986 ml. In the Philippines, the mean breast volume is only 111 ml and even the highest quartile of Filipino women has a mean breast volume of only 179 ml," it added.

Canadians were found to be the second most well-endowed with an E-cup size, while women in Ireland came in third, Poland fourth, UK fifth, Netherlands sixth, Iceland seventh, Venezuela eight, Turkey ninth, and Australia occupied the 10th spot.

Meanwhile, the countries where women supposedly have the smallest breasts next to the Philippines are Malaysia, Bangladesh, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Mozambique.

Why study such a thing? Well, the researchers felt that there needed to be more awareness about international differences in boob size because, according to them, it is directly correlated with both self-esteem and social standing. Different countries have different body types, and they prove this by highlighting a body part that's visually and objectively measurable.

Pushing away all the strong reactions the study might receive from well-endowed Filipinas, the study shows that body standards for one country may be different from another. Being aware of this, the scientists hope, will curb body image issues among women.

Good news for Asian girls. Not all men prefer large breasts. This was the conclusion of a 2008 study published on the Journal of Socioeconomics, Wealthier men tend to like smaller-breasted women, while men who less financially stable prefer those who are well-endowed.

Meanwhile..

The study that says Pinays have the smallest breast in the world might be FAKE.

A week ago, Filipino netizens were all up in arms when several news sites cited a study that said Filipinas have the smallest breasts in the world. The offending study, "Scientific Analysis Reveals Major Differences in the Breast Size of Women in Different Countries," was found in a journal called "The Journal Of Female Health."

"The Journal Of Female Health" is not a legitimate academic journal if Google searches are to be believed. Type the title on the search engine, and you won't find a result directly relating to the said journal other than the study mentioned above. On the first page of the query, other female health-related journals and resources appear: Journal of Women's Health, Women's Health Issues, Health Science Journals, International Journal of Health Sciences, Ethiopian Journal of Health Sciences, and the Journal of Health Science.

The academic institutions associated with the researchers in the study are also non-existent in Google. These are the New Delhi School of Applied Sciences, Braga Medical School, Department of Mathematical Statistics, UISS, New Delhi School of Applied Sciences, ND Garment Ltd, Camiry University, and the Atape Institute of Human Anatomy. We Googled all of these terms, and none of them appeared on the first page of the search returns. It is possible that the The Journal of Female Health and these universities and institutions merely do not have an online presence but the lack of it makes it hard to verify that the study is true. Unless this can be completely verified by a representative from the parties mentioned above, let's settle on a consensus: Don't believe the study.

Sites such as Mediaequalizer.com andDailycaller.com have declared the study a hoax. Nydailynews.com has appended a note to the respective article acknowledging the error as have we. Telegraph.co.uk has taken down the article. Articles featuring the study are still up in sites such as Teen Vogue,Seventeen, ABS-CBN, Coconuts Manila, and Philstar.com.

How did this get past editors? Mediaequalizer.com has some insight:

"What caused this probable Internet prank to suddenly gain so much attention over the past 48 hours? Most likely, the copycat nature of today’s 24/7, content-hungry websites.

Recognizing the high traffic potential of a titillating story, one fell for it and others quickly re-wrote their own versions. Most focused on the 'finding' that American women have the world’s largest breasts."

Just goes to show that any site—whether it's a reputable news site or a lifestyle-centric site—can be vulnerable to misinformation on the internet.

That being said, we're sorry for belittling you, ladies.

Good catch. The troll part of me kinda did want the story to be true to continue reading the resultant saltiness but alas all good things must come to an end. Although why Filipinos find the study offensive is puzzling to me. Not mansplaining or anything but it's fair to say women are more than the sum of their parts. If Filipinas do have the smallest breast on average, I fail to see why that would matter.
