Top JAV Stars of the 2nd Half of 2010 Source: DMM, javcity . com DMM has posted their top 100 selling JAV Stars from the past 6 months. DMM only tracks their own sales, so the rankings aren’t 100% indicative of the Japanese market, but it should be pretty close. Tsubomi seems to be the story of the past six months at first glance, but as mentioned in previous rankings, she places high more because of the volume of work that she’s done, including multi-girl vids with other popular stars. If we look at the sales of individual movies, it’s clear, former idols that recently turned to JAV are the story of the year. Former AKB48 star Rico Yamaguchi and Hana Haruna in particular have had spectacular debuts. If we look at the top 20 DVDs sold over the past six months, Rico Yamaguchi stars in 4 of them (1st, 6th, 10th, 14th), and Hana Haruna can claim 5 for herself (2nd, 3rd, 7th, 9th, 20th). Mind you, two of Hana’s movies are the same, one being a DVD and the other the Blu-ray version. Other models/actresses turned porn stars with top 20 DVDs include Asuka Hoshino (4th), Yui Kobayashi (5th, although it’s just a nude DVD, no sex), Tsugumi (8th), Akie Harada (12th), Tsukasa Aoi (17th), and Rina Rukawa (19th). Also in the top 20 were other newbies including former wrestler Rumi Kazama (15th), chaku-ero legend Mai Goto (16th), and another chakuero star Rui Saijou (13th). The only two DVDs in the top 20 that didn’t feature rookies were Yuma Asami’s 3D DVD at 18th, and a Moodyz fan thanksgiving movie feature a bunch of stars at 11th. Of course, movies of newer stars are expected to do better since they’re bigger events. When you release 1 or 2 (or more) movies a month for a couple years, the demand for each release isn’t going to be as high. Let’s see how Rico, Hana Haruna, and the rest of these fresh faces do in 2011. This bill just passed the committee level. The next stage is for deliberation in the senate floor. No word about a similar bill in the house of representatives. So, yes, it is still far off. However, this is the troublesome part. Talks have began about doing something about piracy in the US. US music, television shows and movies will have backing of the federal government to pursue or shut down sites carrying their copyrighted materials. So, any websites shall now be in the lookout for problematic files. Our sources may be at risk. Anyone heard of Sean Parker and Napster? This has quite the same impact. No worries yet since this may be years away.
